Rest day. Temperature 85°.
I didn't ride at all today. I slept in until around 8:15 AM, ate breakfast at the B&B and then walked through the downtown Stone Mountain area (I was pleased to see a lot of bicycles and bicycle paths/routes on city streets).

I then walked a half mile to the post office and back (to mail home some maps & receipts), another half mile to Stone Mountain Park (ate a snack there) and then hiked 1.4 miles up Stone Mountain.
Stone Mountain is actually a huge dome of granite. It is a tough climb with Shimano SPD shoes (the only shoes I had with me by the time I reached Georgia). I'd walked in the Shimanos so much on this trip that there was very little tread left, making it even harder to climb up the steep granite walls of Stone Mountain.
Here are my Shimanos at the USGS survey marker at the top of the "mountain."

The view was quite nice (the vertical lines from the horizon are the Atlanta skyscrapers).

Altogether today I walked about 5 miles. I had dinner with my hosts at the B&B--the best turkey pot pie I could ever imagine. I then worked on my website in the parlor and my bedroom, connecting to Earthlink via a local Atlanta number for the uploading.
