Towner - Rugby, North Dakota
July 29

I got up relatively early (around 6:30) and broke camp. Rod was up but Kelly was not yet awake. I went to the restaurant down the street in Towner (the county seat) and had an order of french toast, waiting for Rod and Kelly to come along (about 45 minutes later). I then ate another breakfast. We stocked up on fruit/Gatorade at the grocery store and headed out toward Rugby 19 miles east. We rode hard down the right lane of US-2 (a 4 lane divided highway).

Rod & Kelly

It only took us a little more than an hour--there were no winds. At Rugby, we posed at the monument to local geography.

We toured the Pioneer Museum--an excellent display of local stuff.

We all needed to do laundry and were still beat from yesterday, so we decided to call it a day. We also needed to spend some time perusing maps to decide which way to go from here. The AC route heading to the south was flooded out and it was time to figure out where we were going to cross into Minnesota: Grand Forks (US-2) or Fargo (the Adventure Cycling route).

20 miles.
